I’m proud to say I’m from the Kingston area and I love working and living in our city. I grew up in Amherstview just west of Kingston and attended Ernestown Secondary School in Odessa, before heading to Hamilton to complete my Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree at McMaster University. During my university summers, I was a franchise manager for College Pro Painters which firmly planted the business ownership seed in my mind. After working for a major global accounting firm in both Hamilton and Kingston, I was thrilled to join an independent local firm like Collins Blay in 2008 and I became a partner in the firm in 2011, following the retirement of one of our founding partners, Barry Blay.
I currently work with a wide range of local business owners and professionals, personal taxation clients and not-for-profit organizations. My industry specialties include automotive dealerships, real estate and development and construction & trades companies. Proactive tax planning is always a focus of my approach with clients – I want to ensure we always have a current year, a 5 year and a long-term taxation plan that my clients understand. For my not-for-profit clients, I want to ensure we deliver the best value possible in our assurance engagements so these organizations can continue to prosper in our community.
What I enjoy most about my role as a CPA is the constant interaction and proactive discussions with my clients, day in and day out. There is nothing more rewarding as a professional than knowing that your advice is appreciated and valued. What I enjoy most about my role as a leader of our firm is working alongside our young staff and professionals to collectively grow together and deliver the best service possible to our clients. I look forward to meeting with prospective new clients to discuss how we can assist with our experience and knowledge.
